About
About Consulate Report
Consulate Report is an independent public-data reference site. It presents the visa statistics that the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs publishes, arranged by the units people look for: the embassy or consulate (242 posts), the nationality (230), the visa class (240), the calendar month (103, March 2017 to September 2025) and the Visa Bulletin category and chargeability area (96 series). Each page places a figure beside its country, its region or the worldwide total, and beside its own past.
What it is for
Applicants and their families, immigration lawyers and paralegals, university and employer staff and reporters all read the same Department tables. The Department publishes them as one file per month, one PDF per fiscal year and one HTML table at a time; this site joins them up, so that the number of visas a post issued last month can be seen against the same month a year earlier (never added up across months, which the Department says its monthly reports do not support), a wait-time estimate can be seen against the estimate six months ago, and a bulletin date can be seen against every earlier bulletin.
What it leaves out
- Advice. The site explains what a published number is and how it compares; it does not say where anyone should apply, what an applicant's prospects are, or where a bulletin date will go next. Immigration decisions turn on individual facts that no statistic captures. For a specific case, consult a licensed immigration attorney or an accredited representative.
- People. Every figure is an official aggregate. No applicant-level data exists in the sources, and none is held or published here. Diversity Visa selectee names are never ingested; only the Department's published counts by country are used.
- Refusal rates by post. The Department publishes refusal rates only for B visas and only by nationality. Post pages therefore show issuances and wait times, not approval or refusal rates, and the site does not estimate them.
- Superlatives. Posts and nationalities are sorted by published counts and estimates, not rated.
Funding
The site is free and funded by advertising that is clearly labelled. Advertisers have no influence over which posts, nationalities or figures appear or how they are presented. Sponsor placements on nationality pages, when present, are marked "Sponsored"; post pages carry none.
Updates and corrections
The site is rebuilt daily from the Department's tables and from dated snapshots of those tables kept by the site. If a figure here differs from the Department's own file, the Department's file is authoritative; see corrections and the methodology for how the two can differ.
