Nationals of India were issued 91,404 U.S. nonimmigrant visas in September 2025, down 17% on September 2024 (110,192), the 3rd largest nationality of 203 in the month's table.

For the full fiscal year the Department's Report of the Visa Office lists 1,374,775 nonimmigrant visas issued to nationals of India in FY2024, 12.5% of the 10,969,936 issued worldwide and the 2nd largest nationality of 197. The previous year's figure was 1,387,940 (FY2023).

The largest classes in September 2025 were B1/B2 (temporary visitor for business and pleasure) with 70,903, H1B (temporary worker of distinguished merit and ability performing services other than as a registered nurse) with 6,890 and H4 (spouse or child of H-1B/B1/C, H-2A/B, or H-3) with 5,192. 1,894 immigrant visas were issued to applicants chargeable to India in the same month, led by F4 (575) and F3 (505).

The Department's adjusted refusal rate for B (visitor) visa applicants who are nationals of India was 22.04% in FY2025, close to the Asia median of 25.20%; it was 16.32% in FY2024. The rate covers B visas only and is the Department's own calculation, counting each applicant once by their final status in the year.

India does not appear in the Department's Diversity Visa selectee lists for the years on this site, which usually means its nationals were not eligible to enter.

5 U.S. posts in India (Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi) issued 74,661 nonimmigrant visas in September 2025, to applicants of all nationalities.
